"Current" D.O.D Champion in CTO and Siren in TKS, Alexa love sits down with TMZ to talk about her career in the wrestling business. Shed lights on her personal life, previous matches and about her retirement and the peak of her career.
TMZ : Hello Alexa, thank you for joining me for this exclusive interview. How are you?
Love : I am wonderful,how are you?
TMZ : Doing great. Glad to have you here.
Love : Thank you for having me it’s an honor to be here!
TMZ : I must say that you are an amazing talent in the wrestling world. And it’s honestly a shame that you’re about to leave because it seems like you’re in a high place in your career.
Love : Well you know I think there’s a time and place for everything. I have other opportunities in life that I just cannot pass up right now otherwise I would deeply regret not acting on them. Thankfully both CTO and TKS have respected that and have been nothing but supportive with this decision.
TMZ : Speaking of CTO and TKS, how would you describe your time in both of these companies?
Love : I think both have offered me such great opportunities. I’ve been in many companies and each have offered me something totally unique that the other simply just cannot. With CTO I went in starting completely over since Diva Academy had ended. With TKS I wanted to see how the girls there faired and just wanted to have some good bouts. I can truly say I’m blessed to have been apart of two phenomenons that have set such a standard in this industry.
TMZ : It’s such a shame also because you have just become D.O.D. Champion in CTO. How did that feel by the way?
Love : Well that was the ultimate goal. I was there to do one thing and that was become the best there at the time. It sucks that I’m leaving not only on such a short notice, but before this had really started. But even then so I proved more than enough and can say I’ve done something with myself in a large corporation and managed to do it well.
TMZ : And also next Friday you have your last official match at TKS’s Axis of Powers. What is your mindset going into that match against newcomer, Aubrey Aero?
Love : I’m just here for a good time. I want not only want to give this newcomer the spot she deserves, but I want to prepare her for the tough competition that’s to come. Win or lose, I’m just excited to be able to share the ring one last time in TKS with someone who can bring a fresh perspective.
TMZ : And another one of your last matches had a little bit of a controversial ending of you losing. I think you know what I’m talking about. But what was your game plan going into your WrestleVania match against Gin Cruise and also what was your thoughts afterwards?
Love : Well I honestly can say Gin brought some power and was able to shake me. I had landed wrong coming down from the rope and was actually knocked out for a bit. I was able to regain myself shortly afterwards, however it wasn’t quick enough and she was able to get the best of me. I was honestly a little bitter, but hey I’ve lost enough to know it’s not the end of the world. I am fine. I am happy. And that’s what matters the most to me. I’m honestly thankful that landing didn’t put me on the shelf for life.
TMZ : Well we are glad about your safety as well. But back to the topic of CTO, with you retiring that means you giving up the title. And my next questions is; who do you think should be the next D.O.D. champion and why?
Love : Yes, obviously since I am done with CTO I am no longer champion and a tournament will be in place with it. They have already made the announcement and I fully support it. I honestly would’ve said Tesla, but she couldn’t wait and got her hands on the empress championship which is so fantastic and deserving. No one deserves it more than her. I would honestly have to see all returning and new talent in the tournament first before I can decide who my pick to win will be.
TMZ : Would you like your long-time rival Heather Spades as DOD Champion? Every time she’s on social media, she complains that it’s her turn to be champions and she deserves it. Even when you shut her up many of times about it.
Love : Well I complained and had a bit of a phase where I was self-entitled and bitter and it just did not work. You have to honestly put the work in. Being upset is one thing, but something that Heather has to do is actually work. Just saying I should be champion doesn’t cut it. She complained and got her match, lost fair and square. Back of the line you go. If she wins it, then it’ll be deserved finally. Besides that I can’t sympathize with someone who will just talk and not walk with it.
TMZ : Now we’re almost the end of our interview so we have a few more questions left. First up is that we barely see you display your personal life. So we want to know what are you, Alexa Love like when you’re not in the ring? Any family, friends, potential lover in your life. What’s the true tea in your personal life?
Love : Well I am still single. This isn’t shade so a little disclaimer, but so many people focus on relationships a lot of the time when they tweet and I’m just like, ok that’s great but I’m here for work and I’m ready to get my job done and make sure my impact has lasted. Now that I’m able to have more free time I will hopefully be able to find my partner in life. Hopefully he’s out there somewhere, but you know I’ve made a living and future for myself. I’m thankful and proud of that. My love interest will come when it comes. Until then I’ll be rolling in my money and living the good life with it.
TMZ : Another question is that since you are a veteran in this business, what advice do you have for the up and comers in the women’s division?
Love : Be you. Do not be something that you see is popular for the sake of that. If you’re yourself it’ll show a more comfortable and confident you. It will get you more far than being something you truly are not. Something that really gets to me is that so many people will be something they are not for the sake of views, follows, likes, whatever it may be. They’ll see something and try to be that instead of their own version of it or even coming out with something new and innovative. It’s honestly sad. Back in the older days of this industry that’s how you know you’ve made it. Of course everything has been done before, but the way to really make it work is by showing it with your spin. Not being the carbon copy that might get you noticed for 5 minutes, not the 5 years one may hope for.
TMZ : Two more question we have here. First is how would you described your entire wrestling career?
Love : Well I'd like to call it eventful. I can honestly say to be able to be a Diva of Brutality, an FaM Diva/Diamond back in 2011, a Diva Academy student, to being a CTO/TKS superstar is just amazing and had exceeded my expectations. I can say this now I'm retired, but if the right offer comes up at the right time, or a favor from someone is needed where it's not as work heavy. Never say never.
TMZ : And that answer my last question that after your Axis of Powers match, will we ever see you in the ring again?
Love : I'm going to give you the phrase a lot of retirees give out and that again is "Never say never". If the time is right and the offer is just too good, or if a close friend needs help with anything I will be there to help if I can.
TMZ : Well Ms. Love, I would like to thank you for your time here. We here at TMZ would like to wish you luck at Axis of Powers, and also in your future endeavors.
Love : Thank you so much, this was amazing and wonderful to do. I wish you all well and will continue to support you guys!
TMZ : Thank you.
